• The most prolific left-handed quarterback in NFL history when he retired in 1997. Career marks rank among the top ten in the NFL in all-time passing yards, career completions and career attempts. Led the Bengals to Super Bowl XXIII vs San Francisco in 1988.

• Esiason set 17 school records for passing and total offense during an All-American career at the University of Maryland. He led the Terrapins to the Atlantic Coast Conference title and a Citrus Bowl berth in 1983.

• Esiason has become a leading national figure in the fight against cystic fibrosis, where he has established the Boomer Esiason Foundation raising millions of dollars to battle the disease. He and his wife, Cheryl, have been named honorary chairs of Building Bridges to a Cure, the national Cystic Fibrosis Foundation major gift campaign for its Therapeutics Development Program. Esiason has also worked with other community organizations: United Way, March of Dimes and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Foundation.
